ikigai

At the heart of our endless why

Why do you work? Why do you live?

Work is not your complete self - who is?

How can humans authentically flourish in this world? Creating an environment to enable you to forever pursue the answers to those questions is No Moss’ highest goal.

Ikigai is one way to look at purpose, where work
itself can be the interaction of all four of these things:

  1. work you love

  2. work you are good at

  3. work you can be paid for

  4. work the world truly needs

Our purpose is our people’s purpose
— No Moss mantra

purpose & living ikigai

In order to build this, we:

  1. Require and select only for people who want to explore their purpose to join us, allowing easy exits for those whose purposes lie elsewhere.

  2. Create an expectation of all members in the ecosystem to both be coached and coach others toward the pursuit of purpose.

  3. Continuously refine a playbook of systems to encourage and support its growth.

  4. Create ongoing a community that embraces this pursuit as central to its sense of belonging.

the shadow of ikigai

Recognising the flip side of designing for this:

  1. Not everyone is at a time in their life or has the luxury of examining their ikigai; and No Moss can only include people who are.

  2. Doing it is one of the hardest things any individual will ever do; from self-knowledge through to self-transcendence

  3. It can be exhausting to keep it up; and old habits will creep back in; reverting to an unconscious & unmindful existence can gradually return, even years later
